J. Xavier Castillo, M.D. joined Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in December 1998. He cares for Internal Medicine and Occupational Medicine patients at West Clinic.
Professional Background
Dr. Castillo graduated from Meharry Medical College in Nashville in 1981. He completed his residency at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan before completing a Master’s degree in Public Health and his residency in General Preventive Medicine at Loma Linda University in California. Dr. Castillo completed fellowship training in Occupational Medicine at West Virginia University.
Clinical Interests, Appointments and Certifications
Dr. Castillo’s special interests include Occupational Medicine. He is Senior Medical Examiner of the FAA and is credentialed to examine and certify pilots of all classes (private through airline transport). He is also certified as a medical review officer. He is certified by the United Kingdom and Offshore Operators Association and the Association of Divers Contractors International. Dr. Castillo is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Hobbies and Special Interests
When he’s not caring for patients at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, Dr. Castillo enjoys spending time with his wife and playing racquetball and baseball with his two sons.
