KELSEY-SEYBOLD AND UNITEDHEALTHCARE
EXPAND ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE FOR HOUSTON FAMILIES

HOUSTON, TX (October 25, 2005) – A new landmark, four-year contract with Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, provides UnitedHealthcare commercial members with access to more than 300 physicians in 20 locations.  Effective December 1, members of UnitedHealthcare Choice and Choice Plus plans will have access to Houston’s largest physician group as well as the Kelsey-Seybold Ambulatory Surgery Center and other diagnostic services.  With the expanded contract, all UnitedHealthcare commercial members (excluding Medicaid and Medicare) will have access to Kelsey-Seybold’s services.

"It’s an important part of our ongoing efforts to offer Houston-area families access to the convenience and quality of Kelsey-Seybold,” says Spencer R. Berthelsen, MD, Board Chairman of Kelsey-Seybold Medical Group and a practicing internal medicine physician. “By adding these two popular plans, we’re making it easier for patients to receive medical care and diagnostic services in their neighborhoods.  We are pleased to continue our affiliation with UnitedHealthcare and to offer more options for quality health services to their members."

“This new contract with Kelsey-Seybold provides our members with greater freedom of choice when selecting a physician.  UnitedHealthcare is committed to providing access to quality, affordable health care to the people and employers of the Houston area,” said Randy Giles, regional CEO of UnitedHealthcare of South Texas.  “In the Houston community, people value the long-standing relationships they have with their doctors. UnitedHealthcare recognizes this and is pleased to add the Kelsey-Seybold physicians to our network.”

As of December 1, 2005, UnitedHealthcare members will now have access to more than 300 Kelsey-Seybold physicians. With its unique network of twenty locations throughout the greater Houston area, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic has become a “family tradition” for thousands of Houston-area families since its founding in 1949 by Dr. Mavis Kelsey.

This four-year contract with Kelsey-Seybold will assist UnitedHealthcare as it brings affordable health care solutions to the market and will provide additional choices to employers and members.
