CIGNA HealthCare of Texas and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Announce Alliance

KelseyCare Powered by CIGNA Brings Quality, Cost-Effective Product to the Houston Area

HOUSTON (October 16, 2007) —CIGNA HealthCare of Texas and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic announced today they are joining forces to offer a new health benefit option to Houston employers. KelseyCare Powered by CIGNA is a fully-insured health maintenance organization (HMO) product that gives businesses the ability to offer their employees a quality, lower cost benefit option. This new benefit option expands access to health care for smaller companies and increases the array of benefit plans available to companies in the Houston area through the exclusive use of the Kelsey-Seybold network for physicians, clinics and affiliated hospitals.

“We know employers in Houston are looking for new ways to improve the health and well-being of their employees now and over the long-term while moderating costs,” said David Toomey, president of CIGNA HealthCare of Texas. “Our collaboration with Kelsey-Seybold is focused on health improvement and the wellness of members, while helping to create cost-efficiencies and savings for employers. We are excited to work with Kelsey-Seybold on this initiative and provide Houston companies with cost efficient health benefit options that can improve the health of their employees.”

“Our work with CIGNA marks an exciting new venture stemming from CIGNA's longstanding expertise in the Houston area,” adds Dr. Spencer Berthelsen, chief executive officer for Kelsey-Seybold. “Employers can benefit from the efficiencies of Kelsey-Seybold’s group practice model, early and aggressive intervention on disease, and focus on evidence-based medicine, while simultaneously maximizing savings via CIGNA’s robust hospital network.”

The new benefit plan design features CIGNA HealthCare's administrative simplicity, health advocacy programs that engage employees in wellness efforts and help them manage chronic conditions and provides access to the company's mycigna.com member portal. Customers also gain the ability to receive in-network care from more than 300 Kelsey-Seybold physicians at 18 clinic locations throughout the greater Houston area and several affiliated hospitals.

KelseyCare Powered by CIGNA, which had previously been available only for self-insured customers, will become available for fully insured plans effective January 1. Houston companies may also select from one of CIGNA's more expansive provider network options.
