Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Physician is Recognized as one of America’s Top Doctors

HOUSTON (December 9, 2003) – Kelsey-Seybold doctor Gilchrist L. Jackson, M.D. was recently included in the third edition of America’s Top Doctors, a listing of the nation’s top physicians and specialists.  Castle Connelly, a renowned physician-directed research team, selected the book’s final candidates from more than 25,000 physicians nominated by medical experts and fellow doctors operating in the specialty of each practitioner.

Jackson, who has been with Kelsey-Seybold Clinic since 1981, specializes in Surgical Oncology; Endocrine, Head and Neck, and advanced minimally invasive Surgery.  Jackson, having graduated with high honors from the University of Louisville, School of Medicine, completed his residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital, Dallas and The University of Texas at Southwestern.  He later completed his fellowship at M.D. Anderson Hospital, and an additional year on faculty specializing in Surgical Oncology and Head and Neck Surgery.  Jackson is board certified in Surgery and associated with St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital.  He is an Associate Clinical Professor at Baylor College of Medicine.

Jackson is involved with professional organizations such as the American College of Surgeons, International Society of Surgery, American Head and Neck Society, Society of Surgical Oncology, American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, Texas and Houston Surgical Society, and the Texas Medical Association.

The Castle Connelly research team relies heavily on peer nomination to compile its list of physicians for America’s Top Doctors.   Surveys taken by medical experts such as: graduate medical school program directors; deans and chairs of various medical school departments, board members from medical specialty academies, societies and associations; as well as directors of clinical services serving at member hospitals for the Council of Teaching Hospitals, aid in the selection process.  Castle Connelly also distributes surveys via telephone, mail and online to physicians from varied specialties whose opinions assist in the selection process.

In addition to surveys, Castle Connelly also performs extensive investigations into the professional background of each doctor, including disciplinary and license information, as well as biographical assessments, to provide the most complete source to persons in search of the best medical care.
