Houston, TX (November 13, 2001) - The Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Dr. Spencer Berthelsen has been selected as the new Chairman of the Board. Dr. Berthelsen replaces Dr. Michael Condit, who has served as Chairman since 1994.
Dr. Berthelsen is a board certified Internal Medicine specialist who has been with Kelsey-Seybold since 1980. A graduate of Bellaire High School and Rice University, Dr. Berthelsen completed his medical school training at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He served his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, San Diego University Hospital and VA Hospital. Over the past 21 years, Dr. Berthelsen has held many leadership positions at Kelsey-Seybold, including Medical Director for Managed Care, Chief of the Section of General Medicine, and Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine.
Currently, Dr. Berthelsen is Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, and Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston. He is also current Chief of the Section for General Internal Medicine and Associate Chief of Internal Medicine Services at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital.
Dr. Berthelsen has also served in numerous leadership positions with the Harris County Medical Society and the Texas Medical Association, advocating for healthcare issues at the Texas Legislature.
Dr. Berthelsen is married with two children, and will continue to maintain his clinical practice at the Quail Valley Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in Missouri City.
