Houstonians are invited to celebrate the grand opening of Kelsey-Seybold West Clinic’s new Health Information Center, a one-stop medical resource center designed to provide visitors with up-to-date and comprehensive health and medical information they need in order to make informed decisions about their health and medical care.
The open house, sponsored by Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, will offer free educational lectures, free health information and free refreshments. Free educational lectures will include:
· The importance of medications in improving your health
· High cholesterol: Are you at risk?
· Heart disease: What you can do to prevent it
· Respiratory wellness

The Center, the second one of its kind opened by Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, maintains an extensive collection of pamphlets, books, health videos, computer assisted learning programs, and references on community resources. Computer terminals with Internet access, which have been specially programmed to assist with searching and finding medical websites and specific health information, also are available. Plus, free classes on how to use the Internet, how to talk to your doctor and other health related topics are offered. The Center houses a private reading room, a small video room with TV/VCRs for viewing videos, and a private meeting room for patients and/or family members who may need to discuss personal or private medical issues.
