FDA Commissioner Dr. Mark McClellan to Speak at Medical Outcomes Conference Sponsored by Kelsey Research Foundation

WHAT 
Mark B. McClellan, M.D., PhD former member of the Council of Economic Advisors and Policy Advisor to the White House on Healthcare and Economic Issues; and recently confirmed commissioner of the FDA, will be in Houston to deliver a keynote address on how applying national health policies can improve the health of Texas at the Houston Area Health Services & Outcomes Research Conference. 

The annual conference is being hosted by Kelsey Research Foundation, the research affiliate of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, at the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy at Rice University. 

State and national experts from Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, St. Luke’s Episcopal Health Charities, Texas Institute for Health at the Baker Institute, Harris County Hospital District, MD Anderson Cancer Center, the University of Texas Health Science Center, School of Public Health, VA Medical Center and more, will seek to describe the health challenges of the region and set a research agenda, discuss and summarize community and clinical research in response to the health challenges of this region and summarize potentials for intervention and opportunities for improvement.

WHY
This is the third annual Houston area outcomes conference hosted by Kelsey Research Foundation, which is devoted to improving the quality of patient care and health outcomes through research and education.  Anthony Greisinger, PhD, Director of Research at the Foundation adds, “The Foundation has taken the lead in fostering collaborative health services research among local research and medical care institutions.”
