Kelsey-Seybold Clinic’s Dr. Carlos Taboada Garners National, Local Accolades

Houston, TX (Jan. 29, 2002) – Officials from the National Republican Congressional Committee announced that Dr. Carlos Taboada of Houston, has been appointed to serve on the Physician’s Advisory Board (PAB) in recognition of valuable contributions and dedication to the Republican Party.  Taboada is an oncologist at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic’s Main Campus.

The Physician’s Advisory Board is part of the National Republican Congressional Committee, and is dedicated to making sure that physicians have a voice in Washington.

Additionally, Taboada was honored with a “Fellow of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic” award at the Clinic’s annual Doctor dinner and dance.  Kelsey-Seybold has a tradition of bestowing Fellow Awards to those individuals who give their professional lives to serve at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic and leave a lasting legacy of excellence that will continue to shape the Clinic’s future.

In conferring the award to Taboada, Dr. Spencer Berthelsen, chairman, board of directors for Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, noted that Taboada joined the Clinic in 1966 and through his dedication, perseverance and commitment to the group practice model, he created the most enduring international practice in the Texas Medical Center.

Taboada joins an elite group, as there have only been seven Fellows named in the 53-year history of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic; including, Mavis Kelsey, Jim Kemper, Stan Fischer, Jim Smith, Don Owens, Vicki Buxton and Breaux Castleman.

Dr. Taboada graduated from the University of Havana and is certified in Hematology and Oncology.  His other professional designations include membership in the Fellow American College of Physicians, American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Harris County Medical Society.
