Kelsey-Seybold Clinic at
The Vintage
On April 7, 2008, Kelsey-Seybold ushered in its newest location - Kelsey-Seybold Clinic at The Vintage - to meet the demand for medical services in Houston's booming northwest suburbs. The 60,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art medical and diagnostic facility and pharmacy is located between Cypresswood and Louetta off of Highway 249.
"Kelsey-Seybold's leadership and physicians planned the construction from the ground up with local families' and individuals' health care needs in mind," said Spencer Berthelsen, M.D., chairman, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Board of Directors. "Kelsey-Seybold Clinic at The Vintage continues our tradition of providing quality health care and services in a convenient, one-stop environment." Patients of the new clinic can receive comprehensive multi-specialty care with more than 20 physicians complemented by services including on-site digital X-ray and mammography services, laboratory, bone density (DEXA) scanning, ultrasound, and graded exercise treadmill testing. The facility also features a new electronic medical record system, a pharmacy with drive-through, as well as an adjacent 12,000-square-foot St. Luke's Community Emergency Center (CEC) providing patient care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The CEC, which also opened in April is staffed by St. Luke's Episcopal Health System Emergency Room physicians and medical personnel.
Harrell Architects designed The Vintage Clinic, which is larger and replaces Kelsey-Seybold's previous northwest location inside the Methodist Willowbrook Hospital's medical building. The Willowbrook Clinic closed its doors at noon on Friday, April 4, in preparation for the move to The Vintage Clinic. Physicians, staff and all contact phone numbers have transferred to the new facility, so patients should not experience any change in reaching their medical team for appointments or questions. The new building at The Vintage also reflects many of the amenities and architecture of Kelsey-Seybold's flagship, the Main Campus Clinic, near the Texas Medical Center. The state-of-the-art medical facility offers patients the assurance of Kelsey-Seybold's team of experienced physicians in a comfortable environment of spacious waiting areas, generous natural lighting and modern décor. "We understand that today's busy family wants convenience as well as high quality, so offering services that cater to health and busy schedules is key. Our new center is a great enhancement to the level of care that our patients have come to trust and expect from Kelsey-Seybold physicians," said Dr. Berthelsen. "Our team of dedicated doctors enjoys serving our patients and is committed to delivering compassionate care to families in and around northwest Houston."
The Vintage Clinic sits within The Vintage, a master-planned development, and features an H-E-B Vintage Market, single-family and apartment homes, and an open-air shopping center modeled after Uptown Park in the Galleria area.
The new clinic takes its place as the third addition to Kelsey-Seybold"s northwest region. Last fall, Kelsey-Seybold opened its nearby Cypress Clinic on 1960 West at Highway 290, and in 2006 and 2007 opened the Spring Medical and Diagnostic Center and Cancer Center, respectively.

Cypress Clinic
On November 19, 2007 Kelsey-Seybold Clinic opened a new 28,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art clinic and pharmacy in northwest Houston. Kelsey-Seybold Clinic - Cypress is part of an existing 80,000-square-foot medical building, located at 13114 FM 1960, at the intersection of Highways 6, 290 and FM 1960.
The move comes because of the continuing growth in northwest Houston and the much-needed space to serve patients effectively. The new Cypress Clinic is the new home for physicians and staff previously housed at Kelsey-Seybold's Copperfield Clinic. On Friday, Nov. 16, Kelsey-Seybold closed its existing Copperfield location and, on Monday, Nov. 19 opened its Cypress Clinic doors to see patients.
The Cypress Clinic is part of Kelsey-Seybold's strategy of growth along the northwest corridor Hwy 6/FM 1960. "As the northwest communities continue to expand, so do local families' needs for comprehensive and convenient medical services," said Spencer Berthelsen, M.D., Chairman, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Board of Directors. "At our new facility, patients can visit their physician, have clinical laboratory services or diagnostic procedures performed, and have prescriptions filled all under one roof and in their neighborhood."
"Along the FM 1960 corridor, we'll have more than 200,000 square feet of brand new medical office space; and 75 full-time practicing physicians in the next two years," said Dr. Berthelsen.
The Cypress Clinic offers local families many new services and improved parking areas. Patients have immediate access to pharmacy services and several new medical specialists including orthopedics and sports medicine, as well as existing care in obstetrics and gynecology, family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics.
In February, the Cypress Clinic began the conversion to a new electronic medical record (EMR). The EMR technology will ultimately streamline patients' experiences at their visit, as well as enhance the quality of care they receive.
EMR will enable Kelsey-Seybold physicians practicing in various specialties to consult on patients' cases, and will provide them with real-time access to a patient's medical record and available lab and radiology test results at the point of care. It will also automatically prompt physicians of abnormal test results, enabling physicians to more easily monitor and treat patients who have complex or chronic medical conditions. Additionally, if a physician prescribes new medication, he or she will be able to send the prescription to Kelsey-Seybold's onsite pharmacy electronically, so that patients can pick it up after their visit.
"In addition to this new clinic, we are currently building a new medical and diagnostic center at The Vintage, and we are planning an expansion of services for our existing Spring location, where we recently completed the addition of a new Cancer Center in late April 2007," Dr. Berthelsen added.
