A History of Caring
As famous for the NASA luminaries they treated as they were for practicing preventive medicine, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic had its beginning 60 years ago when Doctors Mavis P. Kelsey, William D. Seybold and William V. Leary decided to leave the Mayo Clinic and build their own group practice. A fifth-generation Texan, Dr. Kelsey arrived first, opening an office near the fledgling Texas Medical Center. On January 15, 1949, he saw his first patient, and on March 15, he moved into the Hermann Professional Building. Within two years, Dr. Seybold and Dr. Leary formed the Kelsey, Seybold and Leary partnership, which lasted in various forms for more than 30 years.

Physicians and Providers
At Kelsey-Seybold, our patients have access to more than 320 doctors practicing in more than 40 medical specialties and sub-specialties (click here for a list of our specialties). All of our doctors have completed a medical degree at an accredited university and are licensed by the Texas Board of Medical Examiners. Most are also board certified. Many serve as faculty members at Baylor College of Medicine or The University of Texas Medical School at Houston.
Choosing a Primary Care Physician
Our patients are encouraged to choose a primary care physician for their medical needs. Over time, a supportive patient-physician relationship can develop, allowing doctors to track medical history and detect health problems earlier. At Kelsey-Seybold, the primary care physician is a partner with the patient in addressing their medical needs.
Open Access to Specialty Care – No Referrals Necessary
Kelsey-Seybold is a leader in multi-specialty, outpatient care. This means that in addition to your primary care physician, you and your family have access to our entire team of specialists. Depending on your health plan, Kelsey-Seybold offers open access to more than 50 medical specialties and subspecialties. This means you can schedule an appointment with any Kelsey-Seybold specialist without a referral from your primary care physician.
Your Team of Physicians and Providers
In addition to our primary care and specialty care physicians, Kelsey-Seybold provides a team of experienced providers, including physician assistants and nurse practitioners that provide our patients with many services. Advanced Practice or Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are registered nurses (RNs) who have earned master's degrees or have advanced education, training and skills in a health care specialty. Physician Assistants (PAs) are trained at accredited medical schools and have completed clinical rotations in several health care areas. Both NPs and PAs perform medical interviews and physical exams to identify, evaluate and treat problems. They advise patients on health risk behaviors and facilitate access to appropriate medical resources. At Kelsey-Seybold, the patient, the physician, the nurse practitioner and the physician assistant collaborate as a team in meeting a patient's medical needs.

Diagnostic Services
Kelsey-Seybold offers a number of services seldom found in other outpatient facilities, including: computerized tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), filmless X-ray technology and nuclear medicine.
Onsite Laboratory and X-ray at All Locations
Kelsey-Seybold's 18 convenient locations throughout the greater Houston area provide convenient access to physicians, onsite laboratories and X-ray services.
'Filmless' X-ray Technology
Kelsey-Seybold Radiology Department houses one of the largest 'filmless' X-ray systems in the nation. Our system stores electronic images that can be viewed on a computer screen and sent to the requesting physician via a high-speed computer network. Doctors can view images and consult with a radiologist via computer and telephone, eliminating the transportation and storage of bulky films.
Nuclear Medicine
The Nuclear Medicine Department provides complete nuclear medicine services including bone, kidney, liver, brain, thyroid and heart imaging as well as radionuclide treatments. We also offer SPECT myocardial imaging, a sophisticated heart test typically found only in hospitals. All exams are performed by licensed technologists and reviewed by a board-certified nuclear medicine physician.
Mammography
Kelsey-Seybold Clinic offers mammograms through the Kelsey-Seybold Radiology Department to patients who are referred by their primary care physician. Mammogram screenings are available at the following clinic locations: Clear Lake Clinic, Fort Bend Medical and Diagnostic Center, Main Campus, West Clinic, The Vintage, The Woodlands Clinic and the Woman's Center. To schedule a mammogram, call the Radiology Department at 713-442-1161, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. If abnormalities are found from a mammogram screening, patients are then referred to the Kelsey-Seybold Breast Diagnostic Center.
